I can finally show the video here, since it already had its premiere on Brazilian MTV. :)
I was responsible for the 3D modeling and animation on this. The studio I work at (NitrocorpZ) has other apps in its production pipeline, but Blender is the only one used for 3D stuff.
The smoke was made with the standard Blender particle system, where the particles were displayed as a group of Icospheres to make the rotoscoping stage a bit easier. It was not the intention to achieve something photoreal here, but just a nice flow to make it easier to draw the smoke in 2D.

Not the way I would portray women.
Very cool!!! ;) Good job, man!
I like the graphical style but I assumed that there would be more of 3d.
Very cool....
Great! Rythm and style (made me think a little of Pink Floyd's the wall)
Very cool! Great style, it looks like a modern "Yellow submarine" (the animated movie from the 70s).
Acids, girls, and a P31 : I really love it !
I agree, fantastic style and flow.
Amazing! I love the render style, like, Free Style? What did you use for the rendering engine? It reminds me of some Beatles videos. The shading gives it a 2D look, yet it had to be drawn with 3D because it is so seamless! And how did you do the transitions from like when the words "morph" into the pictures (and vice versa). Did you model the words in Blender? Can you tell I would love a behind-the-scenes scoop?
Hey, guys! Thanks a lot for your comments! :)
@Papasmurf: the video wasn't made entirely on Blender. The production had a mix of 2D and 3D animation. The words, for example, were hand drawn. I used lots of "shadeless" materials, and some setups with the Node Editor. The render was Blender internal. One of the biggest challenges on this was to try a seamless integration with the various type of media we had. :)
Very nice artistic style. I dig it man. :)
Mandou mt bem cara!!
Agora quero ver ele passando na MTV aqui! Acho q vai ser a primeira vez q eu vou ver alguma coisa do Blender na TV msm.. heheh
:)
Very enjoyable to watch. I appreciate your skill at human figure modeling and drawing. I was reminded of the work of Peter Max with the colors. It must have been a monumental task to make a video this long. Great job!
Great music, style and art!!
great video VirgÃlio!!! :O
Most excellent!
Though... @Bart: an NSF warning (or maybe an "underwear alert") would be nice... :|
may be i'm too old... it makes think of the yellow submarine cartoon...
i love it!
kick-ass video and great tune---the spitfire is a true classic...works well with the hippie 2d paintings...love it!!!
Great video!
good job. very nice
Awesome, Reminded me of some similar red hot chillies vid or sumthin ;O..kudos
i was gonna say cool, or wow nice, but that's already been said! ah well! Nice!
Great video, and the song wasn't too bad either. I'm surprised people are complaining about it. Where were they in the '80s I wonder?
@Casey R Williams:
Who's complaining? With maybe two exceptions, this seems like a very positive set of responses to me!
Oh, and I wasn't around for the first half of the '80s, and don't remember the second half. But that's just me.
Wow, nice vid, nice music, and i love the "yellow submarine" style going on here; funny, because you wouldn't ever guess that Blender was used here unless someone told you. Or maybe that's just me...
