In Blender 2.42a some might find it difficult to get a realistic look to hair. Well help is available in the form of a mini-tutorial from Aidan.
Some of you might have come across the tutorial if you've visited cgtalk. But if you haven't thats why we have this wonderful link goodness. So check it out.
Don't forget to take a look at some of our other hair related articles. Including the great examples from BrianH's fur library.
With the upcoming particle modifications now is the time to get into creating great looking hair, so you can be ready for the new version.

Thanks Aidan.
lol
=))))))))))))))
Nice TUT !
..what i am missing are tut´s about compositing.
How do i render ambient oc. seperatly for example?
Colin showed that in his "snurgle making of" but don´t go detail.
Mayby someone out there have a nice tut for that or know a link?
Since none of the particle rewrite features will be in the next official version, does anyone think that they will be present in a 2.43a? There seems to be a lot of energy surrounding these features as of late. It's a shame that the CVS became frozen. I hope that articles from Blender Nation in abundance like these will persuade another version to come out sooner rather than later.
@ blendecross:
afaik etr9 from http://www.geneome.net/ made some great video-tutorials on both compositing as well as ambient occlusin.
lots of good karma to him and aidan.
