Realistic Portrait

11

By Bernardo Iraci.

Hi everyone!
This is my last attempt to creating a realistic portrait. It started as a self portrait, but I did not have the possibility of getting good enough images of myself for the textures, so I had to use material from the internet.

The base model and sculpting are done in blender. Then I used zbrush for the fine sculpting and mari for the textures. Finally again in blender for the final scene setup, hair and rendering with cycles.

I hope you will like it!

Here are the wip and the final thread, where you can find some more info and images about the project:

  1. The lips are a bit too pale, like from a dead man. A little more red would make him a lot more alive.
The rest of the piece is wonderfull. The eyebrows are very well done too. Yesterday I was working on eyebrows myself - and they were NOT that good (they were just awfull !) :-) Good work, Bernardo !

    • Leon Cheung on

Totally agree about the lips. That's exactly what I thought. It can look more alive if improved a bit on texture or color.

  2. With proper detailed textures and maybe shader (I cant say if the shader is wrong due to the lighting) this would be a masterpiece. Good work.

  3. Thanks everyone for feedback and appreciation! I agree about the lips, and a lot of things can be improved here for sure! About the eyebrows, they are done with textures. MxD, I don't know if you are trying to achieve them with hair, but I can tell you that is a lot more difficult, and you really need them only if you have a super close up.

  4. Sorry, but skin shader look plastic:( there is a lot of detail in model, but overall picture look rather like from game engine from 2009 year. I can't see any subsurface scattering.

    • Thanks for the feedback. Skin was surely the hardest thing, and I know there is a lot to improve. Is a bit like a too small cover, pulling from one side I uncovered the other one. I hope next time I will manage to do better!

      • i see that you made a lot of details and overall model is very good, only skin shader looks not so natural, but You should be proud because human head (with good proportions) is very hard to model :)
