I have been working on and off to complete this short film, before my kids grow up and become dissilusioned with their Dad! During the post production process Mango happened and many of the compositing tools matured for me to take advantage of them.
The VSE has gone from strength to strength as well, with many more scripts available as addons to enhance this under used tool.
Editing, sound post(!) and VFX all created in Blender using compositing tools from Mango development.
While the masking could've been done a littlebit better, I enjoyed this short - it's amazing to see productions like this popping up all of a sudden.

HAH! That's pretty fun .. and so, stinkin' true. As a father of three, rambunctious boy I can so that your children are mild. hehe
That is too awesome. I have been wanting to do something with my kids but I'm not sure what though. Very nice job.
kids understand chroma key and blue screen even less than me! It was fun though, I think that they prefer animation with their little cameras and lego.
Very nice .
Using DynamicPaint you could have made foot impression into the street when they walked by. But nice idea!
@97147cc9401486af0f2dcf7a29784454:disqus OH yeah, what a great idea! I wanted to get even decent contract shadows but gave up. I tried just to make all this stuff in 2D, except for the titles. I'm wondering how much of a traditional effects movie I could make with out typical CGI? maybe model spaceships in the next one?
I made another video, outlining some of the nodes I used to make the key. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IquICBYWMHo&feature=youtu.be
Hey 3point contrats on making it to Blendernation! :)
Thanks man, you should see the views go through the roof. Hope people liked it, some kick back from the finished art forum thread at BA as they didn't see any 3D in it!
