Blender Foundation Releases Coders Blog

3

The Blender Foundation has released a new website that is focused completely on Blender developers: code.blender.org.

Ton Roosendaal writes:

This blog is for developers of Blender who are working on projects related to the Blender releases on blender.org. Everyone who has access to svn for bf-blender can get an account here to write articles. We hope that this blog will help understanding Blender better, provide better documentation and insight for (new or other) developers.

Code.blender.org has been added to BlenderNation's Community News section (which also appears in those blue bars on the homepage).

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. I'm not a Blender developer, but I'll give 3 cheers non-the-less for the developer blog! Lols. I've heard plenty of times before that it's very hard to get into helping develop Blender and many highly useful would-be helping hands have given up for this very reason. Who knows what kind of features we would have had if we had more info/help available for developers sooner.

Continue to amaze me Blender community, because you've never failed to do so in the past! ^^
