Sandra Gilbert writes:
It's time again to start thinking about articles, tutorials and images for Issue # 32 of Blenderart Magazine.
The theme for this issue is “Spring is Sprung”
This issue we are going to explore how Blender can be used to create a variety of plants, flowers, trees and landscapes to hold it all.
Here are just some of the possible topics:
- Modeling and texturing of plants, flowers, trees;
- can be realistic, toony, exotic, alien or even steampunk
- Ant Landscape Add-On
- Ivy Generator or similar scripts
- Use of arrays, curves and other modifiers to create vegetation
Also wanted, great shaders, materials and node setups for great looking materials and effects.

I am so very tired of cold weather and snow. Everyone needs to send in as much green and warm vegetation as possible to warm me up. :P
@Sandra, I wish you could be here in South Africa: we are having sunny skies and "braaivleis" (that's Afrikaans for "barbecue" :-) ). I heard Europe is a bit "snowed under", but I mowed the lawn today and had to jump in the pool afterwards from the heat - and I picked up quite a tan in the process. We "braai'ed" the meat till around 21:00, which was when we started eating, all outside.
So, maybe we South Africans should walk the extra mile to show you what real green (not white) vegetation is! :-)
At last check it will be +43 degrees celcius here (South Australia) for New Years Eve. Half our vegetation is brown anyway though.
Ahhh, that sounds lovely, I have snow and gray skies and too much cold here in USA.
he, he, he...here in argentina too +39 degrees Celsius or more. But in my place all the year it's ever green color.
Sigh, I obviously need to move. Idaho goes through all 4 seasons. Winter is too cold, summer is too hot. I love Spring and Fall but they actually have lots of rain. And I don't enjoy being wet. >:(
I live in State of New York, and we just got our first big snow of the year.

Just a very quick shot to show some of the plants and trees in and around our house in South Africa, December 2010. This was done with a small digital camera (low-quality) - used in video mode (not a video camera):

Don't worry: I won't submit it for the Blender Mag :-)
One gets snow over here in Winter, but only in certain isolated areas. It's usually a big thing for people to drive there to actually see and expereince the snow. But you have to be quick, as it usually melts within 2-3 days.
