EcoRobot

EcoRobot by lechu
By lechu
This week’s art submission features lechu’s EcoRobot, as it is being fueled with water gathered from leaves and grass, in a beautiful blend of nature and machine. Created some time ago (Blender 2.46!), and though (apparently) unfinished, lechu has just dug it out of his archives and posted it for us to enjoy!
Find out more on the blenderartists thread here, or see it featured on the Octane Renderer site over here

looks great. very nice render and composition.

Very nice work! I think the hoses could use a little more texture (but then he called it unfinished), otherwise extremely well done.

Good stuff, impressive render times! However, i can wait for a OpenCL solution that i can use with my favorite hardware.

  • tntermini

    that’s beautiful.

  • tyrant monkey

that just too cool, truly impressive stuff

Great image. The third picture on the thread shows a scale on the front left side and a manhole on the top of the machine. I’d like to see who pilots this machine !o)

Very small humanoids or very big forest ? Water drops size let me make my choice onto very small humanoids…

    Nice work !

Hey this is Sam from Octane Forum,
Lechu tutorial about EcoRobot is also the first featured in the Octane Render Vimeo group http://www.vimeo.com/groups/octanerender

    Impressive work and rendertimes

I’m so happy with these renders… is the first time I hear of Octane, I WILL HAVE to give it a try cause it seems quite powerful.

The modeling is great. The thing i love the most, is that grainy aspect that makes it look a lot more realistic, just like in LuxRender, (do they use the same rendering system??)…

Anyways, one of the best… should be in blender.org’s art gallery…

Nice demo in video on your link Samuel, but the voice is very weak at the end specially and I’ve not understood everything (Im’ French).

Octane seems to be very promising, but unfortunately I’ve not yet achieved to do anything with its demo because the software shuts down each time I click on the Mesh node ! I have tried with both 8000 and 9000 versions.
My Video card is a GeForce 8800 GTS 512, on a QX9650 at 3GHz with 4GB of RAM.

I think that I will have to register on Octane’s forum to solve this problem.

I’d really like to use this render engine, espescially after watching the EcoRobot demo video.

Well ROUBAL register on forum, im french too and im not the only one :)
(my name on forum is “Sam”)
Ill send you my skype name so you can speak french with me hehe

You got a GeForce 8800 GTS 512 its not very fast, you should get at least a gtx260
Octane is very high-tech and need a lot of horse power

Video is not by me, its by Lechu I can’t do anything about the voice

This renderer is fantastic (nice picture too! :).

I tried the demo and I was hooked immediately, definately going to participate in the beta! I have geforce 9600 which is not very high end, but the renderer still felt very fast and nice with my own .obj models, and produced photorealistic results in minutes. Wow.

If this were not posted in a Blender-related website, I would’ve thought this was an actual photograph.

  • JotaSolano

@ goldenacorn93: (Maybe) An extensively edited photograph nevertheless…
