Blender review — Anatomic: Head Anatomy 3d Cheat Sheet

1

The head is the most complex part of the human body, both externally and internally. CG Cookie's skilled 3D sculptor Kent Trammell has created a detailed realistic head model to serve as a reference to 3D sculptors, medical students, medical practitioners and anyone who's interested in the structure of a human head.

Anatomic: Head Anatomy 3d Cheat Sheet consists of a Blender scene file that includes the detailed head model of 'Lex' and a clear Sidebar panel with its own tab, which eases switching on or off several layers of the head.

Lex is intricately modeled and textured. For example, all skin surface details are present: pores, wrinkles, discolourations, the works. The head is compatible with both Eevee and Cycles, so you can choose between real-time speed or realistic rendering.

The Sidebar panel includes a range of options to activate, such as clarifying labels with the medical / scientific name of each facial element, as well as the ability to only show only one half of a layer.

Each layer of the head comes with switchable labels and modes

When you deactivate the skin layer in the panel, the underlying layer is revealed: the fat pads that add facial volume underneath the skin.

Once you switch off the fat pads layer, an intricate recreation of the complex facial muscle system is presented. As with each layer, the medical / scientific names of each element can be toggled on or off.

Another very nice feature of Lex is the ability to set one or more of his layers to X-Ray mode, resulting in a semi-transparent see-through mode for the layer(s).

The model's base layer consists of the skull and surrounding bones. You can optionally include the Nasal Cartilage, eyes, colored areas and two layers of labels.

Accessible and accurate anatomy

The Anatomic: Head Anatomy 3d Cheat Sheet model is a comprehensive and detailed 3D representation of the human head anatomy. It's useful as a reference for 3D sculpting, medical purposes and anatomical reference for 2D artists. The easy layer options panel makes the model accessible to anyone, even if you have no knowledge of Blender.
