Wow... I´m blown away. So beautiful! You guys did a fantasic job.
Truly amazing, i`m gonna share this everywhere possible
Absolutely amazing
very nice ,,, love the special effects
very very nice...
but as always... way too short.
Surely the audio wasn't produced via Blender, GIMP, and Krita. Anyone know what was used there? Similarly, what were the Blender development goals of this movie?
As with other open movie of the BF , audio isn't part of the open source pipeline and is made by another studio. The most important development goal was to test Blender 2.8 Alpha so it's production proof when it's done. The movie was started with 2.79 and they switch to 2.8 at the middle of the production when 2.8 was quite unstable and lacked a lot of stuff.
Wow! Congrat guys. Made without any paid add-ons, am I right?
Very beautiful work once again! Congratulations Blenderteam!!! You did it again! :-D
Great work here by Blender Animation Studio :D
Absolutely love it, the only thing I think they should add is a download button to get the video as a 1080p or 4k video file (in an open codec of course!).
I'm sure it will be available here some time soon:

Congratulations. Now here is a Blender movie that really amounted to something. We have seen detail, good animation, colour, lighting music and sound etc. before but this is the first time it all came together with a story and was a unique visual tale. I didn't think I watched a tech demo or something that needed more work. First rate work evident here. Everyone of the team should be proud. I think you now have the skills and experience to tackle something longer and be confident of succeeding.
I guess I have watched the movie 6 times now and it really does stand up to repeat screenings very well. I notice very few critical comments made anywhere and ample praise for it being 'beautiful' or 'amazing' or such. I think it succeeded very well in being a work of art and I would particularly agree the music and sound integrated especially well - not that it carried it but that it enhanced the visuals admirably.
Looking forward to some interviews and seeing people take a bow for a job very well done. Big thumbs up.
I was just blown away by this production, absolutely incredible
Super professional, just amazing and beautiful! This was the first video in (about) 21:9 aspect ratio with which I got to test my work place's new UWQHD screen and what could have been a better test that Spring! Simply: wow.
Absolutely gorgeous !!
Speechless!
Giga-bombastic-fantastic-great. I love it.
The blender short that I liked the most so far :)
The sheer "hi-fi" visual quality, effects, and artistic expression in the scenery were superb. But here I'll stick my neck out and make some criticisms. When the girl first appeared my heart sank. Yet another twee, identikit, bug-eyed cartoon character. Why does every character in a Blender movie have to look so similar, all the way from Big Buck Bunny, Sintel, Caminandes, that suicidal sheep, Agent 327, etc. Her little scruffy dog was excellent and had real character, but still it had to have an oversized cartoon head, when a naturally proportioned dog would have looked so much more convincing. As a Blender Cloud subscriber since Gooseberry, I'm always hoping they'll make something that doesn't look like it's trying to be a Pixar movie designed for pre-school children. Blender is so much more than a cartoon-creation program, yet only Tears of Steel gives any clue that Blender is capable of doing anything else.
I thought Tears of steel was DREADFUL.
The VFX were competent, but the storyline and visual design were nothing special. The dialogue and acting was so bad I felt embarrassed for the cast. Yes, the Blender part, the VFX, was impressive, but such a bad movie will never gain Blender the attention it deserves. My personal favorite is still Elephants Dream, which had it all; a strong story, impressive visual design, originality and a powerful atmosphere. That is the kind of open movie that brings attention to Blender, which is what these projects are for.
Spring was a bit short, but it will bring Blender more attention.
If you want a Blender series that shows the real power of Blender VFX combined with live action, decent writing and passable acting, watch the Dynamo series by KarmaPirates on YouTube. That is worth your time, unlike Tears of Steel which I watched once and then tried to forget about.

Awesome open movie made by the Blender Animation Studio. Sound is also very beautiful
However very little is spoken about the sound. While 50 percent from a good movie is determIned by the sound. Music is made by Torin Borowdale. Which DAW is used so
not everything is made by blender gimp or krita. Thanks for the short movie "Spring" .
