Together with Google VR, the Blender Institute has published part of Caminandes 3 in 360 video format. Many technical changes were made to Blender and the project was run on the Google Cloud Compute platform to pump out the dual 4k frames that were required for a 360 video.
Francesco Siddi writes:
In the past four months Blender Institute worked with the Google VR team to convert the opening sequence of our latest Llama cartoon into a 360 degree VR experience. Thanks to their support and render powers we’re happy to now present to you the Caminandes VR demo.
You can view this video with a Google Cardboard viewer by opening it in the YouTube app on iOS and Android. (I haven't been able to play this on my Gear VR yet - if you know how, let me know!)
PS: I've celebrated this event by opening a new Art/VR category :)
