Lubos Lenco continues his dive into new techniques for the Blender Game engine (be sure to read his '3D Game Engine for Cycles' if you haven't already!). Today, he looks at sub surface scattering.
Hello, I got one more chance to post here which I am very thankful for. This time the read is a little more to the metal, going through steps necessary to implements render technique like SSS. As always, there is still room for many improvements!
Working hard to make the engine accessible - I hope the project can evolve into something useful for the amazing realtime projects people are creating.

OMG. this is was my first reaction if i found out about this in blenderartists forums... i thought i am dreaming XD i hope my dream with this will come true having all up to date graphics features of modern game engine inside blender.. this would make best game engine of all becouse no need learn "thousands of programms" to complete game. thanks super much Lubos i following this now everyday and cant wait to see to for release. : )
Wow Wow Wow simply AMAZING!!!
If you bring all this features in Blender Game engine integrated:
Then Blender 3d will be one of the best Game engines with fastest workflow no Import Export models from other Programms.
Thanks!
A bit misleading: this is not aboute BGE, but a new cool project to keep eyes on
Will change the name to prevent this, thanks for kind words.
When trying to demostrate realtime graphics try to demonstrate any kind of camera moving or player-like walking.
A simple head spinning from a fixed angle could make one think the video is pre-recorded.
Good graphics. I'm more worried about the workflow thing right now (from making the models, to actually setting them in real time, and producing the game). I hope to see something of this when the sdk is released at end of May.
The purpose was only to showcase how the S4 shader behaves, without any distractions. But I see your point, will keep it in mind and improve on that in the future.
Working to show the workflow more, hope to see your feedback then. :)
The new engine looks brilliant, but the name should be changed since it has *nothing* to do with Cycles.
Will change in the next update to fix confusion, and thanks!
I am confused.
Why the name "Cycles" game engine, or whatever it is...?
How deeply integrated with Blender is it?
