Grunt Turntable

15

Kfir Merlaub is showing some serious sculpting skills with this Warcraft-like grunt.

This is my first submission ever to BlenderNation. I wanted to share a sculpt I just created using Blender - an orc-like grunt holding a war club and a shield.

Rendered in realtime using blender's glsl shading and baked AO.

You can visit my blog for updates on other works I create using Blender.

  1. Wow! I'm floored. That's some stunning sculpt, rendered very well in GLSL :) I saw your blog. You have some great works there, Kfir.

fantastic example of what Blender's capable of, this should be on the features page of blender.org ! I love your breakdown of how you use the GLSL shaders:)

    • Thank you!! Yes I do think Blender has great capability, and I hope even more sculpting features will be developed soon :-)

I looked at your channel, very impressive, have you considered doing any timelapse videos? I find it very helpful to watch peoples process.

        • Yes I have considered. I learned a lot from watching those myself :-)
Now I am working on solidifying my blender sculpting workflow and updating my portfolio, I guess in the coming months when I'll be more established in my craft I will do some timelapses. Thank you :-)

    • Thank you! Actually I do consider doing such a thing. I am trying to solve preparing such models to my shapeways shop. A few things to solve first:
      1. multi million polygon Boolean in blender works but takes a lot of time!
      2. I am not sure if I should print it in one piece or slice it. I have an fdm printer, and shapeways are using sla as I understand, and configurations are different, In short, coming soon :-)
