Hjalti Hjálmarsson worked on an Icelandic campaign for fireworks safety. The result is a series of very funny animations with a poor robot getting blown up.
Hjalti writes:
Landsbjörg (The Icelandic Search and Rescue Association) in collaboration with Sjóvá (Icelandic insurance company) contacted us about creating an animated campaign for kids and young adults about the importance of fireworks safety. In Icelandic culture fireworks are extremely popular for celebrating the new year which of course means safety outreach to the public is very important.
The aim was to have a mixture of valuable information and entertainment that presented a cautionary tale. Since we wanted to show the effects of mishandling fireworks (without making it too gruesome) we decided to have the experimenter be a curious robot. He/she is a test subject in a cold-war-era laboratory, closely observed by a lead scientist and his assistant (who's a search and rescue volunteer).
The entire campaign was produced extremely fast, within a couple of months we went from early design sketches to the final product. All 3d is Blender and we used After Effects for composition.

These are such great spots. Really nice work, also great to see clients not scared of trying something fun and quirky.
