Some people are experiencing problems loading the Disqus comments on Chrome/OSX. I'm working with Disqus on getting this resolved asap. In the mean time, other browsers (and a new Chrome Incognito window) seem to work fine.
Update: the only solution for now is clearing your Disqus and Blendernation cookies (see below)
Follow these steps in Chrome/OSX to remove your cookies (for me, 'last week' worked, but you may need to increase the period):
It's broken in my Firefox as well... but the same trick of creating an incognito window will fix the problem. Clearing my cookies for Disqus and BlenderNation and clearing my cache seems to have repaired the issue. Without the cache clearing that didn't work.
I can confirm that - clearing cookies fixed the issue for me. That rather sucks though :( Disqus support isn't very helpful at this time, I'm afraid.
It's likely how Chrome handles third party cookies.
Add an exception for Disqus and it should work.
Worked for me!
I've been having the same problem with a few different sites. If you go into manage cookie blocking and add the site you're having trouble in, it also seems to sort the problem out.
Can you share a screenshot of your settings? Here's what I have - it seems to allow all cookies?
Hmmm, I don't know if this will help, but taking a closer look at my settings, I see that block third-party was set on my machine by default- Anyway I was having problems with disqus, so after struggling for ages I clicked on manage exceptions and typed in the url- as well as adding "disqus.com" to the list. Anyway that sorted out the issue entirely or me.
I just went on my chrome and all my docs are gone??!!
Which docs?
I am on Firefox/Iceweasl, and I am still having trouble. The little circle spins, but the Disqus comments never come up. I have tried clearing all Blendernation and Disqus cookies, plus a whole load of others.
The only way I can get it is by opening a new private-browsing window. So clearly it is a cookie problem.
Did you clear your browser cache as well? That, in combination with removing the cookies, should do it.
Same problem.
And the funny thing is, I followed the off-site link to Create Animation-Ready Clothing in Blender, and Disqus comments show up there just fine. So it’s something specific to your site.
Hey Lawrence, see Ben's comment below. Could you try again? I suspect they may have solved this as I'm seeing much more commenting this morning.
Bingo! Comments are back. I didn’t even have to do anything more. As I said, I cleared Disqus and Blendernation cookies and the cache several times, to no avail previously. But it has come right now.
Excellent!! Finally :)
Hey everyone. It appears that some browsers are caching an older, incompatible version of Disqus, which is leading to the "infinite spinner" situation you've encountered. As the article mentions, you can solve this by resetting your disqus.com cookies, which has the side-effect of resetting the browser's cache of content from disqus.com. (You can also just clear your browser cache.)
We're currently re-evaluating our caching rules to ensure that this won't occur again in the future. If you have any questions or feedback, you can always reach our support team at http://disqus.com/support.
Thanks for helping out Ben! Have you guys made any changes on your end? It seems like I'm seeing more comments come in this morning.
Yep, we've since made some changes.
Why does my Computer stop working whilst Disqus is downloading? has anyone else noticed this? and is there anything I can do about it?
What do you mean with 'stop working'? Does your browser crash? I haven't heard any stories like that..
Also, how did you manage to post this comment? :)
When I open a page on a Telegraph web site for instance, as it is finishing the download it stops reacting to the cursor, I can move it but nothing happens, and the information at the bottom of the page tells me that Disqus is loading something, when that stops I regain control of the page, also if the page is slow downloading I sometimes get a blank white page comes up from the bottom of the screen
still broken one some sites
Do you mean pages? Which ones? Also, which browser+OS are you using?
Can t even login here using Chome Version 32.0.1700.107 under OS X 10.9.1
Sorry but I'm still confused. How did you post that message if you can't log in? Feel free to email me at [email protected] to discuss this further.
I used Safari to log in , just Chrome is not working at all
Here are some suggestions; I think the cookies are the most likely candidate in this case: http://help.disqus.com/customer/portal/articles/920909-login-troubleshooting
Nice article love to read the whole new way of your writing this things.
