John Park does an excellent job at explaining armatures and weight painting.

This comes as a great time. Have a project comin' in the pipeline I may need this for!
You’ll note that Blender makes quite good use of left-click versus right-click to quickly switch bones/vertex groups with minimal interruption to your painting. :)
