Had four hours of spare time at work yesterday so I decided to play around in blender. For a long time I've wanted to make something using ice. So whats better then to make a coke bottle frozen in a ice cube?

This is rendered in Cycles with 3000 samples and full GI. It took around 2 hours to render on my GTX Titan. (res: 3840*4329)

The hardest part was the ice block itself. I started out with a basic cube and displaced it using a cloud and a voronoi texture. Then I used a custom made ice texture for the material bump map. It's not great, but this is what I manage to cook up during my four hours of work. Basic compositing done in Photoshop, sharping up the render and color correct it.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
