Luis Arizaga's 'Captain Proton' image features prominently on the cover of the latest edition of 3D World Magazine. Congratulations! (See also the full-size image and the 'making of').

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

Completey understandable - Captain Proton has stardom written all over him. :)
Congratz :)
Congrats for a job well done ;-).
NICE! I really liked that image so I'm glad to see it's getting some clout in the CG world!
well proud to be a part of the community , times like this , good times .
well deserved!
I wish one day the main Blender site would get some love and have a slideshow/gallery on the front page. This is the kind of thing that inspires people to jump into 3D, I know it did for me. I don't think that gallery has been updated in years! too bad.
Yeah, that would certainly benefit Blender. But did you know you can browse previous art on BlenderNation as well? Go to the menu at the top of the page, select 'Art' and then (optionally) a sub-category. Enjoy!
Nice! :D
Hi People! Thanks for sharing the image and the tutorial on Blendernation.
There's a very nice community in this site. I'm doing more characters I will share with you. I hope that this helps Blender in some way. It's a good program and I love that it's open. Sometimes is a little slow for me to work without ngons. But I think programmers are working hard on this for next Blender versions trunk.
If you're in Barcelona I'm going to do a workshop (sorry spanish only) about characters for animation.

Best regards,
Luis Arizaga
now that I see that cover, I feel like subscribing to the magazine, I'll probably do.
We did quite well, there was also two tutorials on blender and even a quote from the guys that did the VFX for the film "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" (Lloura) :
"We even used Blender for the hair combing;it's simply better than anything else out there."
Isn't blender getting more popular every day eh? Good stuff! ;)
Magic, 3D World cover eh? Well done and congrats indeed.
