Do you enjoy playing Call of Duty? Why not create your own game assets with Blender with this new add-on!
CoDEmanX writes:
The Call of Duty mod tools include plugins for the commercial 3d modelling software Maya by Autodesk (former Alias). It's an expensive application and not many modders want to or can afford it. Fortunately, you don't require it anymore to create models (static/rigged) and animations for CoD:
Blender-CoD Add-On
Blender-CoD is a free, open-source project and provides a plugin for the as well free and open-source 3D modelling software Blender.
It adds support for XMODEL_EXPORT v5/v6 and XANIM_EXPORT v3 formats, which can be compiled to xmodels and xanims using the mod tools. All CoD titles are supported. You can basically import any supported 3d model into Blender (e.g. Blender files, Wavefront OBJ, Collada DAE, 3ds Max 3DS and more), edit it and finally export it for CoD using the Blender-CoD Add-On.

Perhaps this will allow something new and original to be added to Call of Duty, instead of the usual re-used crap...
There is also a crysis exporter.

Yes, a post about that is scheduled to go live this morning.
Thank you for this info, download in progres. :)
Fantastic! I used to be huge COD fan back in the day. I haven't played for years, but always nice to see new stuff using Blender!.
me too!!
me and my son playing games
Nice! My son is a bit too young yet to join the carnage, but he loves watching me play Portal and he's really into "working" with me on modeling and writing for the graphic novel I'm doing. 6 year old kids are a wealth of creative juices. I just need to remind him that Ironman and Batman can not be part the story! hehe
This comes out only a year after I tried and failed to create a new player model in Blender for COD4. I am so HAPPY this is now available.
