Blender.org features a peek at their server stack: "In the Xs4all colocation center, we're the proud owners of 7 dedicated servers running all blender.org domains. Xs4all has sponsored us with a 1/3rd rack and a quite decent bandwidth for it."

I see an Apple Sever there? Is it running OSX, or did they install FreeBSD on it?
I want such server. Especially with decent bandwidth...
Is there a reason you guys are running FreeBSD instead of Linux?
Very nice. Did you take the servers from Blenderartists, they seem to be down ?
Great, we have new servers.
Now how about listening to Andrew Price and redoing the old website.
His designs were spot on.
Blender time to promote this great software properly!
Wow, I thought servers for websites were usually.....biggger? Do website servers use loads of off the shelf regular hard drives or do they use special server based hard drives with ridiculous capacity?
is this why blendernation ist accessible since two days :)
Ah, it cheers my heart to know that a true server OS is being used rather than.... Linux.
OS wars: BEGIN!
Would you mind lending one of those servers to blenderartists.org? They seem to be having a lot of trouble lately :(
the next blender movie character will be named "Switch"
speaking of servers...WHY CANT I LOG ONTO BLENDERARTISTS ARGHHHHHH :*(
@imthewolfman @bojo600 +1
Let's lend some server power to blenderartists -- the withdrawals I've been experiencing today have been PAINFUL. Almost 24 straight hours without visiting the forum. HELP!!!!!!
Nerd alert... as if ANY article on Blendernation needs a nerd alert. That would be like themoviespoiler.com labeling every article as "spoiler alert".
@benu i feel ya!!! omg there will be many angry threads on blenderartists tomorrow i guarantee you! (if they are back online tomorrow)
SAS Drives FTW!
Yes, blenderartists has been down sporadically.
Check this link out.

so there is a relation between these new servers and the lack of connection between Blenderartists.
i'm now sure i'm not the only one that got the following message:
were sorry, but blenderartists.org is currently unavailable, please close the current webpage.

I was joking when I said that this might be the reason why BA is down since some days.
And you are not alone - it is down.
@claas: did you have a problem with accessing BlenderNation? We're not hosted on the Blender Foundation server stack - I pay for it myself.
I wonder how skilled must be administrator of such thing...
