Call For Content Blenderart #24

5

blenderart-logoIt's time again to start thinking about articles, tutorials and images for Issue # 24 of Blenderart Magazine.

The theme for this issue is "From Out of the Deep...".

Part of the fun of being a 3d artist is getting to create things out of your imagination. And since little is actually know about the deeps of the oceans and seas, it provides a great environment for creative endeavors. It is also provides a challenging environment to light properly and apply believable underwater caustics.

So let's fire up our imaginations and blender and create some amazing "From Out of the Deep..." projects. And don't forget to share what you have created with us.

We are looking for Images, Animations & Games that contain or feature:

  • Sea creatures
    • scary/dangerous
    • cute, exotic
    • fictional, realistic
  • Underwater Scenes/Environments
    • caves, coral reefs, plant life
    • Underwater cities / sunken ships

Also wanted, great shaders, materials and node setups for great looking materials and effects.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Yeah I hope some more people contribute this time. Last time was a bit thin on the ground :)

Still a great magazine for the price though! ;)

Let's see if I have anything I can offer. Hmmmmm

  2. Hehehe. The last magazine is really thin. Its also centered on a topic that is popular but difficult. So is this one's topic, but is less popular. Maybe its time that we do do our best to contribute. I'm thinking out what to contribute. I ask everyone to do too, please. It would be great to find your writing and work there and would help several blenderheads.

  3. Hmmm, what's about a BAM contest, like "best tutorial" (three best get into the magazine), "best image" (three best get a special place) and, not sure how that'd work, best making of?
That might get some more people interested... Though, I'm not really sure, if that's actually a good idea... Every entry should of course fit the topic.
