Blender 2.5: Point cache editing

20

Another tasty preview of Janne Karhu's [Jakha] upcoming point cache editing tools for Blender 2.5. As of now, you can not only edit/comb particle systems, but also soft body and cloth simulations. Stop drooling, please.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. *Wipe drool*

If that brush editing thing could be implemented to modifiy armatures' animation curves, this would be extra for action scene (point to Durian) to make them flow after you made the keyframes and stuffs :)

PS : @bart, that editing stuff is nice for typ'doh's

  2. That is pretty damn cool!

That reminds me a cool feature from TrueSpace that I hoped to see in Blender for a long time now... They let you view and edit motion paths in the 3d view, so tweaking animations was really simple...

  3. OOOOOHHHH! You devs know just what tickles me!

@Jarred: I think you don't realize that the release date of Blender 2.5 (so long as its adequately stable) is like a second birthday + second (insert your own favorite holiday here) for everyone. I think it may even be worse for the people who have a birthday on that day because its like having only one birthday instead of two (but even then, that birthday will probably be the best one ever).
I'd even go as far as saying that the release date of 2.5 should become its own, annually celebrated holiday. And can you say the same for any release of any commercial software? I think not!

  4. Let's all get together here and sing praise and worship to the otherworldly blender.

Yes, that's irony. Cool it, people, you make us look like fanatics (well, I guess we kind of are - but still...)-

    Pretty sweet feature, though :D

  5. Ahh! Sorry everyone. Its looks really great but its all geek to me, hahaha. Maybe because I'm not into such stuff yet. Oww, I'm getting outdated. Time to upgrade.

  6. This calls for a celebration and a party!!!

I think a lot of persons will have tears in their eyes when blender 2.50 is launched (autodesk people because of frustration and blender devs and users because of happiness over this epic release :P)

  7. I don't understand what he did? interface too differ from 2.4
what the vertex animation here? how does it works?
i use in 2.4 shape keys - usefull. is it ipo-curve on video in place of shape kay?
