Avemagnadude's new reel is one of the best Blender reels I've seen yet!

Hello!

This year has been a very pleasant one for me.

Coming back from a year long formation school in Switzerland, I had a lot more time to play around with blender and a lot of games. (particularly Skyrim :P )

Here is a compilation of what I've done in hopes of getting a job in the animation industry.

  1. I'm going to keep it clean and say HOLY COW! that was too cool, I loved all of it and I wish I could see more of those giants! I'm sure you've already got a job offer or many by now! this is a real inspiration!

  2. Freaking hate cycles. stupid fireflies, noise, shitty renderer that needs billions of samples to have a clear image.

        • Well I do too and I say that statement isn't true. I work with Cycles daily and I wouldn't call Cycles shitty by a far stretch. If you're getting lots of fireflies, noise and it's taking 'billions of samples', you're not lighting the scene properly. I was working extensively with Octane recently, exactly the same issues, exactly the same way of resolving them. Use proper lighting. Use good materials. Use a GPU.

Where's the huge difference Jerry? Which renderers do you use? Why do you think Cycles is shitty compared to them?

  3. So I will say that the renders and models all look great, and the amount of work that it seems this guy has put out is impressive. I do think the animation could use work, though. For example, the run starting at about 0:37 seconds looks pretty stiff (pay attention to her left arm especially) and the pose at 0:34 looks painful (try putting your arm in that position). In general, I'd also avoid putting quick camera movements, especially shaky cam, in an animation reel. It makes it harder to get a good look at the animation.

But still, kudos on the work, and good luck with getting that job!
