Create Houdini Like Flowers in Blender Tutorial (cloth sim)

1

Cheuqs uses cloth simulation instead of his usual geometry nodes approach to create this flower animation.

Finally figured out a way to make realistic flowers with collisions in Blender so wanted to share it!

Using a set of mesh petals you can make easy flowers by using cloth sims and controlling them with a force field and gravity, then exporting and importing MDD format to reverse time of the bloom. After that geometry nodes can be applied and the possibilities are endless

Inspired by multiple Houdini projects & tutorials on Youtube.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
