Simulated Life in Blender with Geometry Nodes

2

Sirrandalot (you know - the guy who created a camera INSIDE Blender before) dives into simulating dynamic systems using simulation nodes. Starting off with Coway's Game of Life, he continues to implement non-grid systems, aging, multiple plant types, moving creatures and dynamic island generation. It's both highly interesting and quite insane, and I'm impressed the geometry nodes didn't break!

If you need to decompress for a little after all that, I can't blame you. Just zone out and watch a day in this virtual world, with creatures scurrying by and nibbling at digital plants:

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Incredible... It's wonderful to see life happening, even through such simple ways...
And the second video is highly relaxing... How can something so simple be so beautiful...

This makes me realize how life happens around us and many people don't realize how incredible and magical everything is...

    Congratulations to the author
