Behind the Scenes: Kawaii Illustration

0

INTRODUCTION

Hey everyone, I'm Hurvashi Dewangan from India. I have always liked making art and during the COVID outbreak, I started learning Blender which evoked my passion in 3D. I like Blender because it is an all-in-one software and free as well :)

INSPIRATION

I was really inspired by the "Summer Puddle" illustration, made by Haru kui. It was so adorable and cute that I decided to create a 3D scene of this beautiful concept using Blender.

MODELING

First, I created the main character model using some spheres for the body, and curves for the eyes and mouth.

Next, I modeled some rocks, vegetables, bamboo, and rope. Then I added them to the scene.

Finally, I added some plants using the Blender-plugin.

TEXTURING

I created the materials using the node editor in Blender cycles . I wanted a cartoonish look in my scene so I used the inbuilt toon shader and manipulated the values according to my preference .

LIGHTING

I used a simple area-light that passed through a plane with holes to create the tree-shade effect.

POST-PRODUCTION

I used Adobe Photoshop for adding vignette and warmth to my final render.

KAWAII ILLUSTRATION

Thank you all for reading. You can find more of my work on my social media.

I hope you liked my art :)
