Our focus is on Architectural Visualizations. Since We have switched to Blender 4 years ago, We've been looking for a daily used Material ID Layer for post-production to Photoshop. In Blender, there is no exact alternative to this tool.
There are methods with emissive materials, the use of albedo pass, or flat color view in the viewport. But none of this works easily or as We would imagine.
The integrated Cryptomatte system works well, but it is slightly different from just the ordinary Material Id Pass as we know it from Vray and others. After looking for opportunities and solving a problem with professionals on discussion servers, We have decided to create own addon.
We have prepared the Addon Called CID and from today till the end of June is 25% off the sale.
It was made with the Serpent - the Visual scripting tool.So don't hesitate to try it our contact us.

Isn't it the point that Cryptomatte is different from the regular ID passes like from V-ray?
But for architecture a more simpler ID pass might be a better case? Dunno....
But another tool in the Blender arsenal is always welcome. ;)
Cryptomatte is just great. But the traditional archviz pipeline, where the render ID pass is imported into photoshop and the color of each object is adjusted separately, is still a traditional way for most people in practice. Someone doesn't like nodes. And if repairs are needed after a long time or very quickly, photoshop is probably more accessible to most people. Even a colleague who does not know the project can fix the project :). This addon certainly does not seek to replace cryptomatte. This is a completely different approach. For example, for animation, Cryptomatte is the clear winner. On the contrary, it competes with software like NUKE. And CID certainly has no ambition or intention to go in this direction. :) Hopefully it will be useful! Leave us feedback on the market or by e-mail if you want;) It will help us for further upgrades. Thank you! ParametrStudio
