If you wanted a universal way to automatically cull objects based on their visibility from the camera or in reflections, look no further. Proud to present the Thanksgiving 2021 release of the nView Blender addon. Now has animation support - it can keyframe object visibility for playback and rendering.

How does hide in view help while rendering or does it also have option to hide while rendering?
The addon sets the visibility attributes, which includes both viewport and render visibility. So, it can affect either or both.
Very interesting! If I were to scatter say 500,000 objects over a scene and only say 250,000 were visible to the camera, would that free up vram, ram, both or niether?
There's too many variables unsaid to say for sure, but from what I've seen it's both (my guess is it'll affect RAM more than VRAM)
This is absolutely vital for any Blender user that works on big scenes!...its very reliable... and it works with animations/renders
