New on Blender Cloud: Weight Painting Course

1

Demeter Dzadik, rigger in the open movie Coffee Run, has released a new training on weight painting in Blender. He uses the free EasyWeight addon.

This course is an introduction to weight painting in Blender. It goes through all the most useful tools and concepts you will need in order to be able to start efficiently deforming your characters. It also focuses on understanding and working around common pitfalls and confusing aspects of weight painting. If you've never tried weight painting before, or have tried but found it confusing or difficult, this is the course for you.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Why are we still weight painting on characters? These character limbs, especially humans, are well-known entities that doesn't change through time. Is the developer not thinking new or keep doing old things?
