Emperor of the Daleks

2

Hi there!

Thought I would share my recreation of the Emperor Dalek from Doctor Who, modelled in Blender, textured in Substance Painter and rendered in Eevee.

This was a mammoth modelling (and UV unwrapping) job and reference material is quite limited - total work time is around 30 hours.
Hope you enjoy!

Cheers,

Ben

  1. What I find most interesting about this exercise is that certain details would be expected to make it more "realistic." Scratches, smudges, fingerprints. Canonically, this would likely not be the case upon a Dalek ship, where all creatures effectively living their lives as mechanically and mathematically precise as possible as space Nazi monocular octopuses masquerading as machine tanks could be, there wouldn't be any such details. It looks good, yes, fantastic for 30 hours of work, but it's missing a realism element, and I'm having difficulty visualizing what that element should be.
