I have a question, but first: I was looking for this feature only last week, and I tried various methods, including the overkill softbody or cloth techniques, none of which work perfectly, so this is great, thank you. My question is how to realistically reproduce this kind of hanging cable: https://tapeop.com/_m/photologue/photos/cache/wires-n-stuff_display_hires.jpg The catenary works well if the endpoints of the cable are inline with the cable, but if you have the ends of the cable on the same plane, but with a 90degree termination point, the cable behaves slightly differently at the endpoints.
I guess the most straightforward way would be to just do it by hand, to be honest. I believe there's also an add-on on Blendermarket for all kinds of tech cables.
Yes, I figured I would do it manually, I just like to have semi-automatic methods at hand like this catenary curve that gives physically plausible results, especially if I am to do many cables. Thanks for the response, and for your videos, I watch many of them.
