Hi, here is a shortened list of new BlenderKit features that we managed to get into blender 2.82 release:

  • UI has been reworked. You can now access BlenderKit from the header of the 3D view, enabling faster access.
  • Search on the server has been greatly improved, providing superior results.
  • We added many new advanced search options directly in the add-on, that will enable you to find what you need faster and more precisely. Search only in your own assets, models by poly count, procedural materials and more. Or type the name of your favorite author, and it will find his artworks.

I've been blender artist and developer for many years (better don't count it). Together with 2 other open-source enthusiasts, Roman Prikryl and Petr Dlouhy, we created BlenderKit., a new platform to bring more resources into Blender development and to enable us to do more of what we want to do - improve Blender workflow for everybody.

  1. Blender Kit is super high quality- both assets and usability- the core UX team could stand to incorporate some of your innovations into standard Blender. Thanks for the great work!

    • Thanks for the comment ;) We actually communicate with the core team (if there's time for that left...) and it seems this will at least partially happen in the asset manager project. We are looking forward to it. We would love ourselves to have more time to help with it, but by now managing the assets and basically caring about the whole service takes a lot of our capacity - that's why I'm actually happy that we managed to do some nice feature development this release cycle.

  2. BlenderKit is great. I opted for paid account and incorporated models for fun :-)

Was excited to these new feature, but the only problem right now is that BlenderKit seems to have very bad interaction of sort with Blender 2.82, and I had to disable the addon to avoid severely losing keyboard input on Blender :-(

    • We had report of this (very strange) bug behaviour, but were not able to track it down. If you have some more info(like console output or exact way to reproduce it) please report it through blender's bug tracker? Thanks ;)

      • I've actually submitted additional information for the issue T73507.

This seems to be very consistent for one of my environment...

  3. I like the add-on but the only thing that i don't like is the behavior that the pop up after choose a model doesn't dissapear. How could i make the pop-up dissapear from the window ?
