Hi Blender mates!
I finally created an add-on that will reduce PBR material creating time to ONE second.
Basically it makes materials for you.Just chose the directory with textures you want to use, click one button and you are done.
No more repetitive joining nodes and choosing textures manually. It also provides a button to reload all textures, so you don't need do it by hand anymore.

A very great and timesaving addon. works like a charm. One weakness that I have found, is the the suffix need to correspond to the materials you have in your hardrive.
In the addon settings you can change the suffixes as you want :) There is no need to rename anything on the hard drive.
But node Wrangler has this option too... When I was doing similar add-on I realized it is implemented in it. ;P

I think the node wrangler setup posts it better with nodes groups and nicer layout:

as well some import options as well:

Nevertheless, there is still ongoing discussion how to handle AO, light and transparency.
Hope I didn't spoiled that, but I also spend some time trying to do mine own and didn't realize it NW aleady has all the options. I think it have the same functionality as yours, which can be checked in settings.
:(
Yeah, node wragler is nice and has some more functionalities but in case of handling PBR material creation there are some significant differences:
- My addon supports OpenGL and DirectX normal maps automatic import.
- There is no need to select textures to load them.
- Much more efficient texture searching algorithm from the programming point of view.
- Also proper handling of ambient occlusion textures.
- Plus as far as I know Node Wrangler has problem when you have texture named
-“MetalPlate_Normal” for example. It can detect it as metallic texture.
Of course Node Wrangler is also an useful addon but in PBR material creating case it needs more tweaking than clicking one button.
You're probaly right. :) Sorry to bother, just had the same area of interest recentely, and that i wanted to mention it.
I just bought this and it works great. My only thing is that when I imported a displacement map it didn't link to Displacement node. (Hope I said that right)
Thanks for info. I will look into that.
Ok, currently displacement map is used as an height/bump map for normal input. I will add bump map handling in few days.
Great. Thank you. But how do I use a displacement map. Will that be automatic in future releases?
I have just added bump map and displacement map support. Now they are being detected and added automatically :) (download version 2.1.0)
