Tutorial: Creating Motion Graphics Tron Style

While making a new opening title sequence I was asked to create a sense of "everything being connected by data". I saw an interesting GIF on Twitter of ghostly falling bars in a dark room. I tried to replicate the effect as a Cycles material using volumetrics. I project an animated texture using the mostly neglected Brick Texture, into the volume. Using an emissive node I achieved an additive accumulation of light. adding some color made it look a little like Tron.

Here is a brief tutorial to get you started. Remember that the texture is only projected from on view and will not bend around corners. My corner objects have no 90 degree faces.
