We have just put the Blender Artists forums in read-only mode as we're copying the last changes to the new Discourse installation. The ETA is ~ 12 hours. Until then, we're hanging out on the test site.

Bart Veldhuizen
I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

Are all accounts migrated? I can not log in, and if i say "forgot password", the system does not know my username or email address.
The accounts are being migrated. The link in the article is just to the test site. That's not using the same accounts. It's just a place where we were playing with features and theming. Once the site is fully migrated, you should be able to log in without trouble. In the meantime, you can create a temp account on the test site to hang out over there.
Thanks a lot for clarification! :)
This is one small step for blender, one giant leap for blenderartists.
Not sure how far you have got with the user account migration? At the moment I can't login - incorrect user or password. I see another person has issues too. Will wait until tomorrow to try again...
Well I finally got in to the new forums using my email.
The new site requires an underscore in my user name now - Big_Fan rather than just Big Fan.
Its a bit of a different space to behold but I will get used to it.
Thanks for your hard work @Bart. The migration seems to have gone very well.
Really appreciate you taking this on for the community.
You are a good fellow. ;)
Cool! Yeah the username requirements of Discourse are different - best to use your email to sign in. OR ping me :)
Enjoy!
Will user data will also get migrated? like 'member since 2005' etc ?
yes!
Oh no, ads...
We have to pay the bills... That said, I'm researching a way to let people support us on Patreon and offer them an ad-free site.
Replying to the comment from Steve...oh no ads.
Don't take it as an offense but, don't you visit youtube? Don't have facebook? Or visit the whole internet? Everything has ads...and it seems people still goes to internet and wait 2 minutes of ads to see cats on youtube without complaining.
If you don't like something then do something...contribute and donate to blender foundation if you don't want to see ads, if not the case, let it be...they are giving free a beast of a software without asking nothing. Seriously, XXI is the century of complain for all.
Just a quick note: this site is not run or financed by the Blender Foundation.
My bad...all clear Mr.bart. You know, the heat of the battle drives crazy :)
Hi Guys. From about 5 minutes ago the site keeps throwing 403 forbidden error on everything. Not sure if clicking on the old categories (Latest News, Blender and CG Discussions, etc) did it. Sorry if so.
Good again. Ignore.
After lots of forbidden messages now it says:
Error 521
Web server is down
There are some post process steps that need to be completed after the data migration. Combine that with the high load of everyone going to check out the new forums and see how everything works and it's quite a load on the server. So I'd expect to see drops for the next little bit while everything settles out.
Okay...
Good luck on the process.
Will take a bit of getting used to but it will all be good. Progress is always good regardless of temporary pain. Congratulations Bart! :)
Pain indeed! :) Thanks man!
