I liked this alligator character by Lucas Souza and asked him some questions about it.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Lucas Souza, from Brazil. I am 17 ( going for 18 ) years old and I met the Blender around 7 years ago. I learned almost everything I know practically with online tutorials and the community. I am currently as a freelancer and seeking to improve my skills in Blender during the days. My style of art is conected with me. So, all my work has a message behind. Whether it simple or profound. I believe that art is in obvious things and hidden things; and are some of these things that I share in my work.
Why did you create this piece?
A few weeks ago I was looking for some inspiration. Then, I saw an amazing concept that caught my attention by the colors and the expression (body and facial). It is a personal work, but showing an own world of an alligator. Lately I have focused on charismatic characters with a story behind. And that's what I wanted to do in "Alligator's Place."
What were the steps in the creation?
I started with the modelling of the character, this was fast. So, I created the UV map and the textures. In general, i used many tones of colors in the skin to make a colorful alligator as I used 4 lamps + HDRI to create the “ forest atmosphere “ ( or some like this ). The other part was create some trees/flowers/ grasses to make a “ balance “ in the scene.
Thanks Lucas!

This is beautiful. Alligator's are my favorite animal, love the coloring. There is a lot of character conveyed in how he's lifting his leg.
Very cool emotions, nicely displays characters relationships)
