Claas Kuhnen takes us on a product visualisation class in this in-depth videotutorial. The .blend file is available too!
Here is a product rendering video for the Braun KS 20 coffee maker. It covers basic material design, light placement, scene design, and colour correction while rendering.
The target audience are beginners and is suitable for 3D CG artists as well as product design students eager to learn professional rendering.
I use a reference photo to explain how to understand what to do in 3D rendering borrowing from actual studio photography and looking for clues in the photos.
For users who would like to try out the scene you can download the .blend file here.
Enjoy!

I've already seen this video, and I can say it's fantastic, very, very helpful. Not only do you see how Claas achieves the render quality that he does, more importantly, you get a little insight into his production process and why certain decisions are made.
I suggested he do more like this on a commercial basis, but he declined. : ) Enjoy!
I honestly do not know if there is a commercial market for itl
But that's why I teach ;)
Ha! Well you'd have a market of one at least! : )
hey, you can`t do that! i modelled that first! ; )
afaik the coffee machine is called "KF 20" and not "KS20".
Other than that whats special about its design is that the huge water tank is actually floating / not connected to the can. the photographer of your reference picture actually pointed his camera on the gap for a reason!
good work on shading and lighting though!
Ah that explains it - I thought the same but the images looked different.
