Samuel Bravo uses Blender to design cutting patterns for aluminum plates, which he then folds into man-sized statues.
This video shows part of a design and fabrication process driven trough Blender. Although all the components in this small showroom project where modeled for fabrication in Blender (shelves, table, lamps and human figures), the focus is on the folded aluminium figures made with a laser-cut plate. Low poly 3D models were unfolded into a 2d plate and then folded into volumetric figures using the "export paper model" add-on

I used Blender and Export Paper Model and then CNC plasma cutted pieces out of 2mm thick stainless steel. After some very difficult manual bending I TIG welded pieces together.
Nice one. Did you use the same method in the abstract ones?
