Natron 1.00 finally available!
After several months of testing and debugging, we’re pleased to announce that Natron version 1.0.0 is now officially released.
Tons of work has been done by several major contributors over the last month and Natron has received many improvements since the last published release candidate. You can see the change-log right here or in the About window within Natron.
This is the first stable release and we plan to maintain it while we separately work on Natron v1.1 .
The following features are included in the plans for Natron v1.1 and already almost implemented:
- Python 3 scripting: parameter expressions, user parameters, callbacks, groups, custom graphical user interface thanks to Pyside and overall control over the application.
- Optical flow: This will be integrated with a set of different plug-ins handling motion vectors. The motion vectors will be generated with a VectorGenerator node and used within several effects such as Motion blur or Retiming.
- ’G’mic integration: G’mic is a full featured image processing framework containing literally hundreds of effects. It will be proposed as a separate OpenFX plug-in not distributed with Natron due to license issues.
In the meantime, you can get more informations about the project and Natron more specifically in our new FAQ.

this looks interesting. But.. I would like to see some documentation and tutorials so that I can get started. Is motion blur and DOF for imported 3D files included?
If the link
Natron 1.0.0 stable released
is supposed to take us to the Natron site, it ain't workin, it just takes ya back to this very page,,,,and that don't make no sense!!!
How does Natron compare to Fusion 7.5, the new free version of the highly praised eyeon composting software that has now been aquired by Blackmagic. Has anyone used both and could give us some idea of a comparison of the two?
One pretty big fat plus goes to fusion due to its 3d scene support
you can't seriously compare Natron to Fusion or Nuke, Natron is juste one year old, Fusion and Nuke have more than ten years of development
But Natron is open sources, that's make the deal for me
They have developed Natron to be easy to use for peoples who came from Nuke

I'm so glad this made it here. I've been half following this and I would've waited a long time before finding out about this.
