Edit multiple objects at once with the MultiEdit addon

11

Editing sets of objects becomes a lot easier with this free add-on by antoni4040.

The MultiEdit addon allows you to very easily edit multiple objects in a non destructive way. This alpha version keeps the names, the materials, the vertex groups, the shape keys and the origin points(and I still could be forgetting something ).

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. nice tool
but please prevent nested multiedits and prevent the dublicating & leaving a empty object when exiting if not inside multiEdit.

    • Eh? Didn't get that... Do you want to prevent hitting "MultiEdit Enter" again without having hit "MultiEdit Exit"? That would be nice actually. And why do you get duplicated objects? That shouldn't be happening :P There are duplicated objects that keep the data, but they are deleted at the end. Anyway, in the future, they can be hided, I suppose :)

      • hmm sorry was reporting without having the nessessary steps to repro
issue seems to come from the multiple "MultiEdit Enter" instances i created.
        steps to reproduce:
        -4 objects
        - create 2 "MultiEdit" instances [obj1/2 && obj3/4]
        - "MultiEdit Exit" for all objects [_dupl are vanishing on E]
-> [first then second] - 2nd pair is keeping the vertex groups and one empty "MultiEdit" object
-> [second then first] - all objects are having vertex groups and one empty "MultiEdit" object

the result is that all objects with a "MultiEdit" vertex group are spawning a new object.00X
it seems i cant recreate the duplication

        • Well, first of all, you don't want to do multiple MultiEdits... Sorry for not mentioning it. It's not a bug, it's just not a feature. Secondly, well, keep giving ideas! Actually, write a reply on BlenderArtists with everything you want me to add. There's GOT to be an Alpha 3 version. Maybe next month or something.

  2. Hi,

I noticed that you Addon doesnt work on paths! It would be nice if you add this feature in the future, because I am using NurbsPaths and the curve deform modifier to quickly model poly hair.
