Cycles SSS on the GPU ftw :) !
OpenSubdiv and Cycles SSS on GPU Can't wait !
GSoC midterm evaluation! Man, I'm looking forward to hearing some news about the Interactive Quad Remesh development soon! That one's the most exciting thing to come out of Google Summer of Code 2014 for me personally. Though, I wish all the students' projects the best of luck!
Yes we need a new Remesh tool to give us more variety but I do have my reservations about this new Quad Remesh tool because it actually works on Harmonic functions (know I don't actually know what harmonic functions are), but I do know how this remesher is supposed to work and the part that I have reservations about are the part Harmonic Functions have to play in it.
A guess I will have to wait and see.
Dude, if you don't know what harmonic functions are, what's making you reserved about how they will play? lol
I've read the SIGGRAPH paper for the method this modifier uses. From what I did understand of the algorithm, it's going to do a good job with remeshing our meshes with quad-dominant surfaces.

I'd imagine it'd be the most handy for giving cleaner topology for Dyntopo sculpts and Boolean-operated models with manageable topology. But like you said, we'll see.
I hope its development will lead towards some new innovations for Blender modeling and retopology tools, like perhaps a new mesh-merging solution for Sculpt Mode (think ZBrush's Dynamesh) and perhaps a guided auto-retopology solution someday.
Last minute issue like the moral desilution of losing against Chile in the worldcup?
:)
FreeStyle for Cycles would be awesome!
Every release is such a thrill. Thanks developers!
I was hoping that the final version of Fluid Designer will also be released with 2.71.
According to the initial videos published by Andrew Peel, it was supposed to be free, but now it appears to have a "suggested" price tag of 30 USD!
well that's a lame decision on their part. I am hoping that maybe the pre-modeled assets would be 30$ and the blender mod itself would be free. fluid designer not only looked like a good tool for architecture but also had use for indoor game level design. shows you how flexible blender is not only development wise but also in mod licensing. oh well at least its cheap
