Suzanne (well LOTS of Suzannes) made a guest appearance in an official Microsoft video on WebGL in Internet Explorer!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

    • I have to say, I'm still rather dubious about Microsoft, but they've made some better effort in the last few years concerning their products. I personally am growing wearing of the bugginess and unorthodox UI of Gmail (esp. now that some of my emails are turning up in the Trash, for some odd reason), and I find Outlook_com to be so much no-nonsense.

Plus, I find I like SkyDrive better than Google Drive. I've always like the Surface Pro. Even Xbox One is showing some better effort. And now IE's taking some user feedback. Good for you, Big Mike.

        plot twist: M.S. buys blender.
(joking ofc, Blender it's self s source already has a different license, the closest thing is the organization that manages it)

I would rather have Google own Blender Foundation than Apple or MS, mostly because there's a chance they'd keep it similar. Apple or M.S. would immediately ensure the next official release was proprietary, and probably change the interface+ staff as well.

          • I don't know. Lately, in recent years, I find Google to be just as bad as Microsoft and Apple. With Google, the product would stay around for a while, before suddenly being changed or cancelled without any warning whatsoever. Oh, and we'd see ads everywhere. lol

I guess that's true. the robotics stuff mainly disappeared unless they're just saving it for some big release. or maybe they're still running and Google's harvesting money off of them. GoogleBlender would probably have adsense injected into it similar to how M.S. injected their ads into skype. models would probably be sold on the GooglePlay store as well. while it would be more integrated with their other services, it wouldn't really feel the same anymore.
