Nils Martel explores creating Lego scenes with Blender
In this quick tutorial I#m gonna share m y trick on how to quickly get 3D models right into Blender. It's really easy, but you'll need 3 different pieces of (FREEEEE :3 ) Software.I really hope it's useful for you guys !

PLEASE fix the video it is showing up as the color management tutorial.
I think i know the problem it says that it is in the video tutorial section but when you go to that section the first one is color management and there is no lego tutorial.
and It is not just him seeing it. although the color management tutorial is one of the most useful blender tutorials I have seen in a while, showing it twice doesn't make it any more useful.
Right It is useful but at the same time i watched it and don't want to have to wait for the lego tutorial
Hey guys, I have already fixed this a few hours ago, but somehow Cloudflare is holding on to the old content and it refuses to clear its cache :-/ I'm trying to get it updated, stay tuned :)
Thanks!! Really appreciate you working on the site (:
Minor issue, but are you sure you meant to say "creating Blender scenes with Blender"? ;)
Probably not :) Nice catch!
Hah, probably not :) Nice catch!
HAR!
Believe it or not, we actually used this technique on the Lego movie.
Brilliant :)
LOL, I was wondering if they used stop motion :D
Sure, LEGO Digital Designer was used, but I happen to know that LEGO did not use LDraw or LeoCad or Bender. Check out this article:

I happen to know that too. It was the LDD I was referring to.
I though that's what you meant. ;)
The best way to import LDraw models into Blender is to use the LDR Importer instead of having to go through LeoCAD. Check it out here:
https://github.com/le717/ldr-importer/releases
The script imports LDraw models very well, and also cleans up the raw mesh to make it optimized (because LDraw mesh is normally very messy). Maybe I'll make a tutorial for it some day...
LeoCAD Is outdated and many bricks are missing...
Can you recommend an alternative?
thanks for the tips! You helped me make this video! https://youtu.be/kIbvFUuAoLU
Oh wow! You should have submitted that one yesterday :) It's featured now, enjoy!
Haha that was my goal... Sadly my computer did share the same goal! Thanks so much!
