Sanctuary Rising by SynaGl0w is one of the most inspiring nature scenes I've seen in Blender.

SynaGl0w writes:

What started off as a one of those tests/doodles that "I'll only spend a few minutes on" received a bit more of my time than originally planned. There are a number of things I would improve should I do a print quality render in the future, but I also have to move on to other projects.

You should definitely check out the entire image series on BlenderArtists.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. That is just absolutely incredible! For a second, I thought it was a picture of a real tree that had been photoshopped into a scene, your modeling is fantastic! :D

  2. Very lovely work. Unlike others, I don't see it as photorealistic, more painterly, but a beautiful scene. I certainly couldn't come close to that, at least at this time. :-) Great stuff.
