I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

The lighting is awesome!
whats going on in there?? Nice image!
The depth charges and proximity of that cliff/rock makes it even more intense. The lighting/volumetrics effect is really powerful!
Great work. I thought the rock was a giant whale at first tho. Looks awesome!
So, is it safe to say that this was done with volumetrics?
He posted how he did it over at BlenderArtists:
"blender internal, mist, spot with procedural texture as fake caustics"
Makes it even more impressive, actually...
