Video: Project Delta (Preview)

6

This is what you get when three visual effects artists doodle in Blender in their spare time! The project isn't finished, this is their first preview.

Vishal Bhardwaj writes:

Project Delta was born out of an R&D that we started during our idle time. Our initial idea was to create a single shot. In the course of time, we found ourselves telling a story.

The team comprises of three visual effects artists. Sreenivas created the missile and launcher. Avish is creator of almost all of the other assets in this film. Vishal did the ocean, lighting and compositing.

We had also used four models from BlendSwap. Our heartfelt thanks to the artists who created these amazing models.

Due to our busy work schedule, this is still in progress. We aim to develop and refine it more as we get more time.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. good realism! i am a little tired of that trailer-ism though.
if you have created 10 seconds of animation then please show them. the wires and fan captions are superfluous.

  2. Roberto Locatelli on

Perfect realism until now! The problem (for ALL 3d softwares) is put human (or humanoid) digital characters acting in the scene.
Because of this, several movies choose work with real actors.

  3. An artistic exploration...It sounds exciting. The nice music, the long credits, and the expressed ambition let's expect something great...So, why this already seen again and again boring military stuff? The base looks like a 3DSMAX modelling lesson.
Otherwise, the visual quality is impeccable. But I didn't see art here. Rather an cinematic intro for a video game.
