Blender Game Making Challenge Starts October 20

2

The Blender Game Making Challenge is a challenge for game designers. The theme will be announced on October 20th and you will have 7 days to prepare your entry. Alastair Low explains the concept in this video.

The BGMC site explains:

Blender Game Making Challenge is a game development event for users of Blender 3D and its Game Engine. Participants are presented with a challenge to develop a game in a given time frame (usually 7 days). This is a great opportunity for future Blender GE users to learn how to use the BGE from other developers.

Blender Game Making Challenge was founded by Josip Kladarić in August of 2011 and was originally called the Blender Weekend Game Making Challenge. Since then the BGMC has grown significantly is size and importance.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Great initiative, game engine needs publicity. Even if it's destined to change into something else, according to roadmap.

  2. If all participants who actually makes a game that is "approved" as a game recieves a "wood" textured version of that trophy that is a bit smaller or something,i'll join in :p cuz i know i wont be in the top 10 or 20 :p
