Hi BlenderArtists
this is my latest project. It's for the German blendpolis community challenge "Center of Power". It was a Cycle challenge, so we were just allowed to use Cycle for rendering.
It last 3 weeks till finish.

That is cool. I love the lay out also... =)
WONDERFUL!! I only have 2 suggestions.
1. Lighten up the bottom of pan and hand to suggest the flame as a light source
2. Eyes look too "glassy"
anther suggestion: if the main character is cartoony make the environment the same, stylized not realistic, again to less color make it golden on blue or some adjacent color
-rise the shoulder of the hand with the bottle, lower the elbow
- make the pan rest on the fingers not on his palm
-camera lens make a fish eye effect where sides bend, but just a tag, increase a bit the angle by taking the camera closer and maybe a bit of an angle not straight at him like a "front" camera
hope it's a useful crit ;)
I think that's a good crit! Just a thing regarding the toon/realistic point: I've read more than once the advice you just gave, but then you see Pixar doing the opposite all the time (carttony chars + extremely realistic envs and props), and their results are awesome! So... where's the magic there? That always dazzles me...
Do you want to kill me, guys? O.o
My heart skipped a beat when I saw my image here. Thank you so much for sharing my work!!!
Haha :) My pleasure!
oh wow. I love this one.
Brilliantly done!
Wow! Great job done here
Looking great Fishsnack.
How did you made the flames?
With cycles?
flames and smoke are made with alpha-maps in cycles.
You can see the node-setting and the planes here:

Really great, I too would like to know how the flames were done :). Also, why is Fishsnack's comment marked as abuse?
No idea, I've restored it.
Alpha maps! Smart! That's I can say...
Great picture showing this cook is mad... slightly mad but it's clearly :D
