Hey guys,
I just finished putting together my 2011 demo reel. I am currently looking for work as a freelancer. Please take note of the "what I did" box in the lower-left corner of the video. It says what I did on each shot. I did not animate every shot in the reel, for example, so be mindful.
Also, in the shots from Sintel it says that I did rigging. But please note that Angela Guenette (http://www.youtube.com/user/PonderStudios) created all of the facial shapes for the characters in that film.

Impressive work!
Waow ! Lot of great animation on this showreel ! congratulation Nathan !
perfect!
I liked the tiger (or lion) most, and all was great of course. I wish you successful and joyful art career.
Very good work, I wish you the best, you deserve it.
And, btw, nice way of defining what you have done. Proper behavior to be appreciated.
Wonderful demo reel. Really great skills !
One of the best reels I've seen yet.
Very good reel indeed. The animation ( "what I did") is very smooth and well done. 5/5 !
Perfect! As usual. And I'll always be dreaming to work with you.
Most stuff is from BF Open Movies I see. I hope that will earn you many jobs from that.
I actually have a lot of material from Project London, but since it's not released yet I am not allowed to include most of it in my public reel. :-(
Amazing work! You are an inspiration to me. Are you going to try to participate in the mango project?
Nope. I'm going to take a break on this one. :-)
Awesome job Nathan!
"Nope. I'm going to take a break on this one. :-)"
So no Naaaaaaathaaaaaaan on Mango-Video-Posts *sigh*
Great stuff anyway, I like the parkour-part.
That is one brutal demo reel.
Hi Nathan, great work but if I were you I'd apply for a job at one of the big animation studio's because it will be very difficult to find work just as a rigger or animator. You need to be able to do modelling, lighting and texturing too as a small CG artist.
Take care, and I hope to see you at next year's Blender Conference
The reel is not just rigging+animation. It also includes modeling, texturing, lighting, and compositing. The National Geographic work, for example, is done entirely by me. Besides which, so far (almost a year now) I've been pretty successful as a freelancer, so apparently it can be done!
In any case, I'd rather avoid the big studios. Not saying it will never happen, but I'd like to put it off as long as I can. ;-)
whats wrong with big companies?
Nothing necessarily wrong with them, per se. I just don't find already well-established businesses very interesting. I would have loved to work for Pixar back in its early pre-Toy Story days. But now... dunno. Not nearly as interesting to me. Same with the others.
Again, I'm not saying it will never happen. But it's not where my passion or aspirations are. Once I start wanting a stable settled-down life, then perhaps I will look towards the giants if nothing else has come along before then. :-)
Perfect reel!
Nathan, you are one of the most awesome artists. Hope you will find a good job. If I had the money I would hire you ...
BTW: Cant find this song anywhere :-(
Absolutely love the cat skeleton!
