Free Model: Regency Townhouse

This kind of architecture can be found all over Brighton, although the houses that this scene is based on are my favorite; Powis Square. There’s a little more work to be done such as the pavement and shuffling up the textures on houses, but I want to move on. All textures and models are my own and you’re free to do with them as you please…with attribution.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Oh my word! I used to live in Leamington Spa (Midlands, UK) and part of the Parade (main street) looks just like this .. blast from the past!

    Brilliant :)

  2. That's a nice model. I'll make sure to credit the artist--Brightonpiers?--if I ever happened to use this in my videos. I don't have any reservation about using "generic" models like this one, but I'm not sure if it's wise enough to use some of the top notch production quality "original" models available in Blendswap as featured  before in Blendernation. Is it possible for 3rd party entities--such as toy makers--to make a product out of them without your consent, since they have been released under Creative Common license, once the models get "popular" through your films or whatever? Anybody got an answer?

  3. Yes, it's entirely possible for anyone to make anything they want out of your model. The three licenses on Blendswap are:
    1. CC-0: The work is placed into the public domain, no rights reserved.
    2. CC-BY: The model can be used for anything as long as you're credited properly.
    3. CC-BY-SA: Same as CC-BY, but all derivative works must be also licensed under a CC-BY-SA license.
