Truly amazing.
Yep! Very cool!!
that's so clever
i tried to make my own 3d printer in lego but this is even better quality
Oh? That's truly amazing. It is very precise for a homemade milling machine "toy".
That's pretty awesome.
I'm thinking "Lost Foam"
Incredible. I'm going to try to make one now. I don't know how many times I've thought of trying to have my stuff printed to show off around my office. The ability to make my own would be great.
FYI, 3d printing and CNC milling are completely different things... it's a little misleading to include "3d printer" in the title. It's cool though!
Agreed, although in laymen's terms they have roughly the same result. And '3d printing' is more sexy ;-)
ha ha ha ha!!! not a lot you can say to that!! ;)
I need this machine!!!!!!!!!!
A good reason to start playing with Lego's again. I have grand children so I have a good excuse..=)
For an example of 3d printing, check out RepRap (http://reprap.org/wiki/Main_Page), an opensource 3d printer that can duplicate most parts itself.
More correctly, it can duplicate *some* parts itself. The self-replicating concept is cool, but the technology still has a long way to go. Even industrial 3D printers cannot print the required electronics, for example.
Well yeh, it cant do the electronics yet, however they are aiming for that at the moment. I just think its cool that there is a 3d printer available at such a low cost if you don't mind building it yourself.
I build a bigger one at home for sculting wood but this lego little one is really beautiful.
A similar CNC machine is the ModelMaker. It uses foam as well as other materials, such as wax or balsa wood. http://www.2bot.com/product-info
Wow, holy crud! I was pretty unimpressed until they vacuumed the bits off...totally knocked my socks off :D
